چکیده

Emerging mobile and ubiquitous computing environments present hard challenges to software engineering. The use of mobile code has been suggested as a natural fit for simplifying software development for these environments. Existing strategies for locating mobile code assume an underlying fixed, stable network. An alternative approach is required for mobile environments, where network size and reliability cannot be guaranteed. This paper introduces AMOS, a mobile code platform augmented with a structured overlay network. We demonstrate how the location discovery strategy of AMOS has better reliability and scalability properties than existing approaches, with minimal communication overhead. Finally, we show how AMOS can provide autonomous distribution of effort fairly throughout a network using probabilistic methods that requires no global knowledge of host capabilities.

Visual Tracking using Learning Histogram of Oriented Gradients by SVM on Mobile Robot

The intelligence of a mobile robot is highly dependent on its vision. The main objective of an intelligent mobile robot is in its ability to the online image processing, object detection, and especially visual tracking which is a complex task in stochastic environments. Tracking algorithms suffer from sequence challenges such as illumination variation, occlusion, and background clutter, so an a...

A Lightweight Middleware Protocol for Ad Hoc Distributed Object Computing in Ubiquitous Computing Environments

Devices in ubiquitous computing environments are usually embedded, wearable, and handheld, have resource constraints, and are all connected to each other through wireless connections and other computers possibly through fixed network infrastructures, such as the Internet. These devices may form numerous webs of short-range and often low-power mobile ad hoc networks to exchange information. Dist...

m-jUDDI+: a Semantic-enabled Service Registry for Discovery, Composition and Substitution in Pervasive Environments

Abstract. We present a semantic-based version of UDDI registry, specifically devised for pervasive environments, able to cope with automated mobile service discovery and composition and compliant with Semantic Web technologies. The framework exploits non-standard inference services within OWL-S. The approach also deals with effect duplication and non-exact matches, computing an approximate cove...

Higly-Available Location-Based Services in Mobile Environments

We show how to use Web Services standards for propagation, discovery, and composition of location-based services in mobile environments. To achieve semantic interoperability we express location information in XML using context-specific ontologies. The achieved interoperability allows for context-aware on-demand service composition making the composite service highly-available and resilient to e...

Insect inspired behaviours for the autonomous control of mobile robots

Animals navigate through various uncontrolled environments with seemingly little effort. Flying insects, especially, are quite adept at manoeuvring in complex, unpredictable and possibly hostile environments. Through both simulation and real-world experiments, we demonstrate the feasibility of equipping a mobile robot with the ability to navigate a corridor environment, in real time, using prin...
